"Picture book, pictures of your mama, taken by..." Wait a minute ... this is something else? Doh!
Seriously, the HP campaign had already started winning awards by the time this Head and Shoulders one broke. Wasn't there one junior brand manager in the whole company who could raise their hand and say, "um... excuse me Mr. Bigsby... I really love this ad you put together and all, but it is just a little like the current Hewlett Packard tv ad that's been running the past year..."?
Walking out of the train this morning I noticed that the New York Post and the Daily News had come up with the exact same headline for the Michael Jackson story: "Boy, Oh Boy!" (give or take a comma). Which is a little surprising 'cause the News usually goes for a more "facty" headline, but I guess they couldn't resist in this case...
Because I'm a geek, I was reminded of the first time in my memory that the tabs had the same cover headline - a much more unlikely one for a much less all-consuming story in the mid 80's, with "DRAGNET OUT FOR COP KILLER." I think there may have been a few more instances since then, but if I learned anything from John Hughes movies, it's that you never forget your first time...

Walking to the train just now I made a very non-important discovery. AIR makes a perfect aural soundtrack for many activities - late night chats in smoke-filled rooms, perfume commercials, bonin'. But for walking across town trying to hold your umbrella in an annoying late-season snowstorm? Eh, not so good.

Is it me, or is there an Attack of the Paris Hilton Clones on the streets of NYC this summer? Straight blonde hair, vacant stare, fringed jean skirt just down to there...
Back in the day (you know, I'm talking '03, yo) there used to be a little iPod salute - a small head nod when you saw another pair of those tell-tale white earbuds. These days you'd have to be walking around like a Mike Piazza bobblehead doll to keep that up, at least here in NYC...
I think I've walked by three people with legwarmers in the past two days on the streets of NYC. I'm all for this 80's revival giving us new versions of ESG and the Cramps, but now it's gone too far!
