The English have come up with another excuse for a "top ten songs" list, this one the best Christmas songs as voted by British VH1 viewers.
1. "Fairytale Of New York," The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl, 1987
2. "Do They Know It's Christmas?" Band Aid, 1984
3. "Last Christmas," Wham! 1984
4. "Merry Xmas Everybody," Slade, 1973
5. "Do They Know It's Christmas," Band Aid 20, 2004
6. "All I Want For Christmas is You," Mariah Carey, 1994
7. "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday," Wizzard, 1973
8. "White Christmas," Bing Crosby, 1942
9. "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)," John & Yoko & The Plastic Ono Band With The Harlem Community Choir, 1971

I would in fact put "Fairytale" on my Top Ten, though by this point I'm not sure it's necessary to actually ever hear again - which in fact applies to a lot of this list, but there you are... This list is top of the head; once I start nosing around the Xmas singles this weekend I'd probably come up with a few more, but with that caveat here it is:
About half of the Ventures' Christmas album
Little Cajun Drummer Boy - Evan Johns and the H-Bombs
Someday at Christmas - Stevie Wonder
Jingle Bells - Booker T and the MGs
Jingle Bells - Buck Owens
Don't Believe in Christmas - Wailers
Please Come Home for Christmas - Charles Brown
Christmas in Hollis - Run DMC
Fairytale of New York
Jolly Old St Nicholas - SSD (on the Boston Rock Xmas, early 80s)
And if you're looking for imaginative mixes of holiday favorites, do a search for the DJ RIKO "Merry Mixmas" Christmas mixes. They're usually posted on mash-up sites like gybo.org.
